Industry Specific ComplianceThe Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) on June 17, 2025, notified regarding the increase in the limit of contract demand (CD) up to 55 MVA from the current limit of 35 MVA under 110 KV supply voltage.

The following has been stated namely: -

• The Commission has approved increasing the Contract Demand (CD) limit for power supply at the 110 kV level from 35 MVA to 55 MVA, subject to technical feasibility such as voltage regulation, transformer capacity, and line loading within thermal limits.

• Consumers seeking CD above 35 MVA and up to 55 MVA will pay ₹10 lakhs per MVA as augmentation charges. Additionally, in cases of conversion from HT to LT supply, consumers are allowed to reuse the infrastructure they had initially installed at their own cost—such as transformers, LT lines, and associated equipment.

• This decision addresses consumer concerns over technical and procedural delays.

• The Commission has invoked Clause 46.00 of the Conditions of Supply (CoS) for this purpose and has directed amendments to the relevant CoS/KERC Regulations accordingly.
